Creating Positives During the Covid-19 Pandemic
There is no doubt about it, we are incredibly lucky to be living in New Zealand right now.
Being in lockdown level 3 and 4 forced many of us to slow down and live a simpler life than we usually would. It forced us to take stock of our time, our priorities, and how our lifestyle serves us. At Cater Plus, it showed us where we can make implement initiatives, and make our processes more efficient and sustainable to serve our people and our planet.
The global pandemic is still running rife through the world. As difficult as this time has been, we have implemented many positive changes to business processes throughout the Covid-19 lockdown contributing to a more connected, efficient, and environmentally friendly business.
Paperless Systems.
With the onset of Coronavirus Cater Plus have moved to a truly paperless system in HR, Health and Safety and payroll. With most systems already paperless in food safety and site operations we have expanded this to include all departments providing a digital platform to record and share all information. This saves time onsite, provides instant reporting, is more environmentally friendly and reduces human error in reporting.
Cater Plus chatterbox
Cater Plus’s Facebook group chatterbox has grown, with Cater Plus employees from all over the country able to interact, communicate, share ideas, and provide support for each other during the lockdown. With our staff unable to get together for staff meetings, workshops, and other events, the Facebook group has been a wonderful forum for staff to stay in touch and provide support for each other.
Decrease in travel.
With travel restrictions in place, Cater Plus employees have decreased travel during the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to less carbon emissions from flying and driving. Webchats have increased with employees working from home, providing additional benefits to our environmental sustainability. Cater Plus have committed to decreasing our travel and increasing online meetings to further reduce our environmental impact.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Service
Cater Plus have teamed up with EAP Services to provide staff with fully funded support and counselling through the Employee Assistance Programme. Our wellbeing is important. With life pressures and living through a global pandemic, we want to ensure our staff have the support and assistance to get help during hard times. EAP Services is a comprehensive service providing help for people suffering from stress, depression, and anxiety, relationship, and personal matters, and with budgeting, legal, and financial assistance and more.
