Head Chef – Rathkeale College Boarding School, Masterton

Full-time – 8.30am until 5.00pm Monday to Friday

An opportunity has arisen for a talented Chef to join Cater Plus and our team at Rathkeale College where we cater for the 168 students who reside in the Hostel during term time, as well as providing lunch for a further 330 day students and staff. We also manage regular school functions throughout the year and operate the school café.

This role is educational, meaning you will work 40 weeks per year and be able to enjoy school breaks off giving you quality time to spend with family or refresh, there may be opportunity to pick up extra shifts over this period to help with special events. You will be responsible for preparing wholesome and nutritious food for the school and hostel food service. Our aim is to provide a home away from home environment with a delicious meal service that supports health, wellbeing, and learning. We work closely with all stakeholders to ensure this vision is achieved.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced chef to join our established and loyal team. In this role, you will work alongside the Site Manager delivering consistently delicious meals, day in and day out. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be actively involved in cooking, service, and the overall day-to-day operations in a modern, well-equipped kitchen.

We require a chef with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, who can support the Site Manager to:
• Deliver a high volume of healthy and nutritious meals daily
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Design menus that are student friendly or relatable to the function brief
• Think of creative and fun ideas for student theme nights and events
• Portray an extensive knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to implement NZ food control and safety regulations
