Chef Manager - Operations Support, Auckland

- Passion for Food / Excellence in Service
- Variety and challenge – no two days the same!
- 40 hours per week as and where rostered (Monday to Sunday)

We have a rare opportunity for a passionate, adaptable, and flexible, hands-on Chef Manager to help us deliver the best food experience in the industry.

About the Role:
Working across our various in-house kitchens and cafés in Auckland to cover chef managers when on leave and training days, this position promises variety and challenge!

To be successful, you will need to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment whilst juggling multiple tasks at the same time. The beauty of this role is that no two days are the same – one day you are running a sole charge workplace cafeteria, the next day you are managing a team of 5 staff members in an aged care kitchen, private hospital, or boarding school (and everything in between). This means you love being a hands-on chef and leader, actively involved in the preparation, cooking and service of food, who enjoys pleasing our customers on a day-to-day basis.

We have many kitchens and cafes throughout Auckland which range in cooking styles, service times and quantities.

To be successful in this position you will need a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience across both aged care and café settings along with experience managing a kitchen team. You will need to be able to:
• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisine, and have experience catering for functions
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create and adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements
• Estimate food and labour costs and manage within budget
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
• Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment

The ideal candidate will:
• Have excellent communication skills and a flexible, can do committed attitude
• Be friendly and engaging, with a desire to be a productive and positive member of the team
• Be passionate about good food, and great service
• Have excellent time management skills, and computer literacy

As travel to various sites across Auckland is a requirement for this position, you will need a car and drivers’ license (a fuel allowance is provided).
