Chef Manager - Kākāriki Hospital, Auckland

Working 40 hours per week, 06:00 – 14:30, Monday to Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, reliable and experienced individual who has a passion for food and is keen to take the next step in their career by joining our team.

Cater Plus is the proud service provider for Kākāriki Hospital in Auckland, a modern private short-stay surgical hospital based in Greenlane, that is committed to providing restaurant quality meals and catering for special dietary requirements on request. To make this happen, we need a motivated Chef who is passionate about food and excellent service.

This role will be providing meals for 40 patients, and lunches for up to 90 staff per day. You will be involved in all aspects of food preparation and service. The successful candidate will need experience, especially in producing both breakfast and dinner meals, baking and creating sandwiches.

As the Chef Manager, you will be an experienced leader actively involved in the cooking and service of all meals, the day-to-day running of the kitchen, and making our client and their residents’ smile! You will bring the best out in your team as you encourage and lead them to get the job done well, challenge them to improve, as well as work together, value and support each other. To succeed you will need excellent communication skills and pride yourself on producing a consistent and delicious meal, time and time again.

This position sets the scene, and therefore attitude and motivation are key to success along with the ability to:

- Prepare, cook, and serve wholesome food (including soft meals)
- Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements
- Manage food and labour cost within budget
- Discuss food preparation issues with managers and kitchen staff
- Implement New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment.
- Ensure all staff are recruited, inducted, trained, and motivated to provide an outstanding service to our client and their residents
- Complete regular mandatory reporting to ensure responsible and effective management of food service
- Demonstrate moderate computer literacy.
- Show a flexible, can-do, committed attitude.

Other conditions for all roles:

• On occasion, weekend work may be required.
• The Chef Manager position will require a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience.
• Police vetting is a requirement for these roles.
