The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Services Manager who is ready to use their skills to help us stamp our mark in Hawkes Bay. For the right candidate, this role offers variety and a chance to show their potential and creativity in this hands-on, multi -site position. You will connect with clients, inspire your staff with your background as a Chef and your obvious leadership skills.
In this role you will:
• Be responsible for driving day-to-day operations of 2 industrial staff cafés within the Hastings area.
• Be actively involved in the creation of menus, cooking, and presentation of food and delivery of functions, whilst catering to a varied clientele.
• Ensure full staff coverage over a 5-day roster including daytime and evening shifts.
• Manage food and labour costs within an agreed budget.
• Oversee New Zealand Food Control and Safety regulations within your sites.
• Work in partnership with the Regional Operations Manager and the wider business to implement development strategies and foster an engaged workforce.
• Manage and support the catering for functions whilst actively promoting Cater Plus and seeking out new business opportunities.
This is a multifaceted role which requires someone who can think on their feet, be adaptive and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. We need someone who has strong staff management and recruitment skills, whilst being commercially and financially savvy and has a strong customer-centric focus, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Being an experienced chef is a prerequisite for this role. You will need to be supportive of your teams, understand the business challenges, be able to quickly resolve issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and be prepared to get in and roll up your sleeves when necessary.

This position will be based in Hastings and travel between the two sites will be a requirement, but for the right candidate the role offers a competitive salary, and a chance to show your potential and creativity whilst growing and developing a successful team.
Ordinarily working Monday to Friday, some flexibility will be required to ensure coverage over the 5-day roster. With 2 weeks closure at Christmas, and public holidays off, you will enjoy regular breaks and that all important opportunity to rest and recharge.
