Casual Chef - Operations Support, Northland Region
With 7 kitchens and 2 cafes within the Northland region, we have a rare opportunity for a passionate, adaptable, and flexible, hands-on Chef who enjoys the variety of working across all these sites. We are looking for someone on a casual basis.
With various sized aged-care kitchens, an industrial cafeteria and public Café, this role will keep you on your toes! Ranging in cooking styles, service times and quantities your week can change from filing cabinets at our café, catering for a function, or providing good wholesome meals for residents.
This is a casual position to cover team members when on leave or training days.
You will need to be adaptable and flexible, able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time, and thrive working across a range of settings. The challenge of this role is that no two days are the same – one day you are cooking and serving in one of our busy cafes, the next day you are working as part of a team preparing and serving food for a large resthome (and everything in between). This means you will be a good all-round chef able to deliver wholesome meals, café style food, and bake.
This position is a pivotal part of our team and requires a chef with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
If you have a can-do attitude, a passion for food and thrive on variety, this one for you!
Can you:
• Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of cuisines, cabinet items and corporate fork and walk canapes.
• Monitor quality of food at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Create and adapt menus to cater for varied dietary requirements.
• Pride yourself on serving safe food following The Food Control Plan (we use Safe Food Pro)
• Promote and lead a healthy and safe work environment.
• Showcase top communication and time management skills.
• Lead a team of people and work solo.
• Engage with a desire to be a productive and positive member of our family.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate great communication skills and a flexible, can do committed attitude
- Be friendly and engaging with a desire to be a productive and positive member of the team
- Be passionate about good food and great service
- Have excellent time management skills and moderate computer literacy.
This is an exciting opportunity to support our region as we grow. We are looking for a superstar keen to take on their next challenge and make a difference wherever they go. As travel to various sites across the region is a requirement for this position, you will need a car and driver license.
